Research Program Coordinator

The Department of Veterans Affairs Rehabilitation Research & Development Center for Limb Loss and Mobility (CLIMB) (Seattle, WA) has a position open for a Research Program Coordinator. The appointment will be made through the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington. The candidate will work at the Veterans Affairs Hospital under the guidance of Dr. Aubin. The candidate will facilitate recruitment and participation in a newly funded study that will evaluate the effectiveness of conservative treatments for ankle osteoarthritis. (APPLY BELOW)

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Study Coordinator

  • Manage patient recruitment, enrollment, and participation in federally funded research grants that focus on increasing the mobility of people with arthritis or lower limb loss.
  • Ensure study participants proceed through the study appropriately and administer and document outcome measures (e.g. surveys, pain scores, etc).
  • Perform simple summary analysis of study measures and document results in reports.
  • Manage Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation and compliance with the VA and University of Washington.
  • Ensures assigned studies adhere to all applicable regulations and requirements relevant to the study phase, design and/or use of data.
  • Oversee study operational plan
  • Assists with protocol design and strategy
  • Contributes significantly to relevant study documentation including clinical protocols

Administrative

  • Assist with onboarding new personnel.
  • Facilitate supplies and equipment purchases.
  • Review, plan, and manage grant budgets.
  • Facilitate planning and execution of personnel travel to conferences.

Technical Writing

  • Facilitate developing, writing and submitting federal grants.
  • Assist with grant ideation.
  • Perform literature reviews to document and summarize the current state-of-the-art in the fields of mobility, prosthetics, arthritis, and biomechatronics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Scientific professional degree (BS or MS degree in a field related to health or engineering).
  • Experience in clinical study recruitment.
  • Experience in clinical study management.
  • Experience in clinical research study design, analysis, and execution.
  • Experience with writing protocols, agenda and action plans.
  • Experience with scientific writing (grants, journal articles, and press releases).
  • Experience with budgets, placing orders, and managing supplies.
  • Familiarity with the scientific method and randomized controlled trials.
  • Competent with MS Office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with resource management, Gannt charts, and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability and expertise in project management and handling varied aspects of grant administration and management.
