- Creating a Web Presence (How to get Web Services; Creating a Web Site; Developing a plan – No Web presence is better than a poor showing; Authoring tools)
- Pitfalls of the Web (Web myopia; continued $upport; Getting voted Worst of the Web!!! Or Geek Site of the Day; Web Hell – When artists and programmers clash)
- Management of Web resources (Define goals of Web presence; Identify resources early; Try low cost options first; Avoid content errors – under construction, out-of-date information, etc.)
Learning objectives:
By the end of this session, students will be able to:
- Describe the advantages and disadvantages of creating a "Web presence" for their organization
- Enumerate and describe several technology options for developing a Web presence
- Articulate key strategies and principles in WWW resource management
- Describe key elements of good Web page design, and list several common design errors
- Via classroom exercise, understand basic elements of HTML coding and style
