Surface age from radar


ALOS-PALSAR (L-band) backscatter values (y-axis) are calibrated vs. numerical (OSL, Cosmogenic) surface ages (x-axis) to provide effective proxies for the age of abandoned alluvial surfaces in desert environments and for carrying out regional-scale tectonic and landscape evolution studies. This study was part of Guy Hetz's Ph.D. studies at Ben-Gurion University in Be'er Sheva, Israel and was carried out in collaboration with Dr. Gidi Baer (Geological Survey of Israel), Dan Blumberg (Ben-Gurion U) and Hanan Ginat (Dead Sea and Arava Science Center). Funding provided by the Israel Science Foundation (ISF)
