Instructions for using the parseowner.exe and directors.exe programs. These programs were written to convert text output from Compact Disclosure into a comma-separated file that can be input into a spreadsheet program (like Excel). Installation: It is easiest if the programs are copied into the same folder where the output files are saved. You can run the program from a different folder, but you will need to make sure you enter the correct path information to the output files when the program is run. Use: * Both programs run from the command line, so you will need to open a command line window (DOS window). In most versions of Windows you can do this by clicking on Start --> Run and entering 'cmd' and clicking 'OK'. In the command line window, change directory to the folder where you saved the programs: e.g. cd c:\download\disclosure * Run the program by entering either 'parseowner' or 'directors' on the command line. * You will be asked for the name of the input file, this is the file that you downloaded from Compact Disclosure. * if the source file is in the same folder, simply enter the name of the file and press 'Enter' * if the source file is in another folder, enter the path to the file and the file name and press 'Enter' * You will be asked for the name of the output file, this is the name of the file you want the program to save. The name of the output file can be anything you choose, but it cannot be the exact same name as the input file. * enter a name for the output file and press 'Enter' That's it! The program will take a couple of seconds to run. When it's done, you should find a new file with the same name as the output file created in the folder you specified. This new file is ready to import into your spreadsheet program.
