Instructions for accessing electronic reserves

Note: These reserve materials are restricted for explicit use by students enrolled in Professor Gunnar Almgren's Health Policy Course, SW 561B, at the University of Washington. All other uses are unauthorized.

Using electronic reserves allows you to view assigned articles on-line, download a copy for your personal scholarly use, or print a copy for your personal use if you are using a computer with basic internet software, including the Adobe reader software. Both the library and the computer lab computers are equipped and configured to access electronic reserves, as are most computers sold for general use in the past few years. Students may also access a hardcopy of the course readings on 4 hour reserve at the SSW library. Reserve materials may be accessed in seconds by taking the following steps after you have clicked on this hypertext: ELECTRONIC RESERVES:

  1. A screen will be displayed which lists the articles for the course that are on reserve, click on the article you want to select for viewing on line.
  2. A screen is displayed which shows the full title of the article and citation information. Click on the part of the screen that shows the hypertext phrase: "connect to this title online, U.W. restricted".
  3. A box appears asking for a username and password, both the username and password are "erfall". Enter both.
  4. The complete article will be displayed at this point, beginning with a copyright restriction warning. As long as the article is for your personal scholarly use, you may download the pdf file the article is written in or print the article on your attached printer, again assuming the computer you are using has the basic internet software. Although the SSW library and lab computers can print electronic reserves, there are restrictions on the amount of printing allowed.
