How to Review and Post Comments

Students review and comment on cases through the use of special teaching tool developed for interactive group discussions of exemplar cases through use of the “Virtual Case” discussion tool. All case discussions will be monitored by the course instructors and will be conducted in accordance with the problem based learning approach to case discussions described elsewhere in the course syllabus. The instructions for using the “Virtual Case” discussion tool for this course are as follows:

1. As each new case is assigned by the course instructors, access the “Virtual Case” discussion site for the case by clicking on the hyperlink text below the case assigned. The course begins with “Case 1”

2. Access to the case discussion site requires that you use your UW network username and password (your official UW e-mail username and password). After these are provided, the “Virtual Case” discussion screen will appear that is specific to the case assigned. The comments on the case are identified by the e-mail name of the person making the comment, and your own comments will be identified by your e-mail name.

3. All comments and replies for each case are to be under the “Group Messages” options of Virtual Case (that is, we won’t be using the personal message option for this course).

4. The “Virtual Case” screen provides a “Help” button with instructions on how to read and post comments, as well as how to order them by author, date or subject.

5. If difficulties are encountered, the course instructor can be e-mailed at mukboy@u.washington.edu.

6. In order to begin the first case, access Case 1 in accordance with the preceding instructions and click on mukboy’s “Welcome” comment.

The course instructors will a new case about every two weeks over the duration of the quarter. In order to review and post comments on individual cases, click on the hyperlink text below each case.
