How to Review and Post Comments

Students may review and comment on cases through the use of special teaching tool developed for interactive peer review of student papers. Instead of papers, students will comment on cases. After clicking on the highlighted link, you will be asked for a simple username and password that will be provided by the course instructor. Once the username and password are provided, a dialog box will appear that allows you to select the case and related comments to review. The dialog box also explains how you can post your own comments. Although you can edit your comments before submitting them, once submitted they are published. There is an example case provided that will allow you to experiment and see how this works before "going live".

There are a couple of things to keep in mind when you get to the peer review dialog box. Although the tool works well for clinical case discussions, some of the parameters are a little rigid:

• To review a given case (e.g. "Case One"), click where "Case One" is highlighted.
• To review a comment on a case, click where the word "Review" is highlighted.
• To post a comment on a case, go to the upper right hand part of the dialog box, scroll down, and select the "paper" (meaning case) you want to post a comment on. In this part of the dialog box, due to the rigid parameters of this software, Case One is listed as "one,case".
• Where it asks for you name, you can use the pseudonym assigned to you by the course instructor to preserve anonymity.
