Mr. H.K. Part 2
Mr. H.K. was treated with anti-depressant medication. During the course of his therapy, he continued to take Chinese herbs and did not tell his family about meeting with a mental health counselor. He responded to therapy with a complete remission of his symptoms. He thanked his provider, but confided that (1) he remained confident that he was not suffering from mental illness, (2) talk therapy had not been of help, (3) antidepressants perhaps were effective against "wind" and "lack of blood" disorders, and (4) because he had been concurrently taking Chinese herbs, it was uncertain which had been the most effective treatment.
