Internships

US Office of Personnel Managements Professional Council of Federal Scientists and Engineers

at the NHS Hall, Center for Urban Horticulture, April 26 & 27, 2001. This organization is made up of forty-five high-ranking federal scientists and managers from a broad cross section of the US government, from Department of Defense, to Energy, to Education. On April 27th from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, the council will hold a special recruiting brunch session for the purpose of sampling the next generation of potential federal employees. All interested UW students can bring resumes and receive information about career opportunities within these agencies. A number of agencies will have recruiters at this session. DOT (Department of Transportation) is sponsoring a summer internship (12 spots) for wet land monitoring. They have hired a faculty member from Evergreen State College to teach the interns how to assay the wet land areas, collect and anlayze data. Will be excellent opportunity to gain valuable field work experience.

Internship Title: Wetland Ecology and Monitoring Techniques
Position Title: Wetland Biologist Intern
Internship duration: June 25 - Sept. 6 2001
Days/hours commitment Monday - Thur 8-10 hours/day, approx 38-40 hrs/wk
Compensation $2500.00 stipend
Summer Undergraduate Research Program
Applications Now Available On-line Due April 20, 2001
Students may apply for part-time or full-time research positions. Part-time positions carry a time commitment of approximately 15-25 hours per week; full-time positions require a commitment of approximately 40 hours per week.
 
Part-time researchers will be awarded a stipend of $1,700 for the 10-week program; full-time researchers will be awarded a stipend of $3,400. All stipends will be disbursed semimonthly throughout the 10-week period.------Program Dates are June 18-August 24, 2001

  1. Sign up for WEB- walk up
  2. Bring resume for counselors there to review -- I will expect to see original resume with comments on it and the revised version. Have counselor sign your original resume.
  3. Look through notebooks on shelf and find 2 jobs you would be interested in. copy down jobs & contact numbers.

April 4 and 5-- Attend Career Fair either day ( HUB Ballroom)
