Keys to Success in this
class
When you are taking notes, reading from the book or reviewing your
class notes, you need to be asking yourself the following
questions:
- How does this system work? (what
is its function? i.e. what is the work of this system)
- How does this information help me better understand how the
system works?
- What is causing the (blood/air/stuff) to move?
- How could I increase the rate of movement of this substance
(air/blood/ion/nutrient) ?
- What would cause things to slow down?
- What is controlling the system?
When you study, you need to be looking for answers-- not just
trying to retain information.
The exam will test to see if you can use the information to solve
problems associated with this system.
STEPS to success
- 1-Figure out what this system does -- why is it important
- 2- Learn the names of the parts
- 3- Figure out how the system works-- the steps in the
process
- 4- Quiz yourself (or your study partner) each night about what
would happen if a particular step/part was missing.
- 5- Practice this over and over -(except fridays-- even neurons
need a break)
