A few of my favorite (non-medical) things. The links will take you outside this website to learn more about them...
MUSIC--They Might Be Giants...Tom Waits...Juan Luis Guerra...Silvio Rodriguez...Violeta Parra...Betty...Loreena McKennitt...The Paperboys...Alison Krauss
STORYTELLING--I love a good yarn! Here are some storytelling websites:
- From Native Americans of the Southern U.S.
- From a Jewish Grandmother
- John Crocker's Arabian Nights Page--A labor of love of an English admirer of the Thousand Nights and a Night (Alf Layla Wah Layla), the famous collection of stories whose origins are lost in antiquity, but which probably date back as far as the 9th Century and originated from the Middle East, Central Asia, and even China. It's a pretty amazing website.
SENSIBLE CONSUMERISM:
PARALLEL PARKING--I don't know if non-NY'ers can relate but the way I see it, parallel parking is an art of the highest order, as well as a challenging sport. In NYC, you better be darn good at it if you want to find parking, cause you don't get no extra inches! Join my crusade to make parallel parking an Olympic sport! You can start by clicking here to send an electronic message to the International Olympic Committee. And you can make parallel parking an art in your own life by choosing those spaces that are just a little tighter and doing it in one shot! If you want to know more, check out this instructional site.
DON'T FORGET--The day after Thanksgiving is BUY NOTHING DAY!
