• Standard treatment includes abx + joint aspiration or drainage
• In a randomized trial in 123 children with septic arthritis, dexamethasone 0.2mg/kg Q8h x 4d vs. placebo was ass'd with sig. higher likelihood of normal joint function at 12mos (98% vs. 74%) (Pediat. Inf. Dis. J. 22:883, 2003--JW)
