In a 6wk randomized trial in 36 nondiabetic, nonvasculopathic nursing home residents with noninfected foot ulcers of > 1wk duration treated with nerve growth factor vs. placebo (all received standard care including repositioning and hydrocolloid occlusive barriers), mean ulcer area was sig. smaller in NGF recipients and incidence of complete healing was sig. greater (Ann.
