PEDIATRIC SAFETY


Car seats:

  • Seat must face rear to 18 lbs.
  • Infant seat to 44 lbs.
  • "Booster seat" to 65 lbs.

    Poisoning: For most medication ingestions, single dose of activated charcoal is the decontamination treatment of choice if can be provided within 1h of ingestion.  For meds that are poorly-absorbed by activated charcoal, e.g. iron, lithium, or in sustained-release or enteric-coated formulations, use gastric lavage, cathartics, or whole bowel irrigation.
