In a study in 352 women with lactation-associated mastitis randomized to an oral probiotic formulation (lactobacillus spp.) vs. a physician-selected antibiotic, over 21d f/u, clinical recovery occurred sig. more frequently in the probiotic group (88% vs. 28.7%) (Clin. Inf. Dis. 50:1551, 2010-AFP).
