Reference Sources

Reference sources provide general background information on a subject or topic. They can often be a good place to start your research, especially if you have a topic for with which you are unfamiliar. Make sure to note the original source of the information, which is usually identified in the form of a bibliography. You can use these references to find more information on the same topic.

  • Arizona State Chicano Research Collection
    The Chicano Studies Collection was established in 1970 in response to the academic needs of both Chicano students and faculty in higher education. Its purpose was to obtain works by and about Mexican Americans, or Chicanos, in the United States, and to place those materials in a separate library collection at Arizona State.

  • UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center
    The CSRC is one of four ethnic studies Organized Research Units (ORU) in the UC system. All four centers were established in 1969 and are based at UCLA, where they report directly to the Office of the Chancellor. The CSRC also forms part of the Inter-University Program for Latino Research (IUPLR), a consortium of Latino research centers located at eleven major research universities in the United States.
