A Java® program that carries out the IAST calculations:
IAST Program
in Java.
Use of this program eliminates the requirement for some manual
iterations that must be carried out within the Excel spreadsheet when that
program is used to solve the IAST equations. You must have the JAVA engine loaded on your
computer to run the program; that engine can be downloaded free of charge from
www.sun.com. To use the program, save the zipped file to
a folder on your computer, and extract all the files. This step will
create two new folders named IAST and __MACOSX. In the IAST folder, there
will be a file named IAST.jar. Double-click on that file, and the program
should start. The steps for using the
program are explained in the page that will appear on your screen; if you
have questions, please contact me (contact info below).
Note: A manuscript containing background information on the IAST and the
usefulness of these programs has been published in ES&T. The citation is:

Conceptualization and Solution Approach for the Ideal Adsorbed Solution
Theory (IAST)." Environ. Sci. Technol. 43(7):2530-2536
