This game feels outdated and old. Although I haven’t played it for a while, I seem to recall having a lot more fun playing its predecessor, Lament of Innocence. The other problem with this game is that it just doesn’t feel like a Castlevania game. It feels like a generic hack and slash game. The “innovation” here is the fact that you can have a pet-like entity fight along side you throughout the game. As they gain experience, they evolve into new forms with new powers. The problem is that this is actually a pretty boring process with little excitement in the process.

In addition to this, the combat is ridiculously simplistic. All swords have the same attack patterns; the new ones just do a little more damage. The same goes for spears and other types of weapons. In my opinion, the combat is just shallow. In fact, this whole game is shallow and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
