I bought this game with pretty low expectations. I thought that this was just going to be another standard platformer with some shooting thrown in for good measure. I’m happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised. This game has surprising depth and is one of the most entertaining games that I’ve played in a while. Over the course of the game, you follow Ratchet (a walking/talking cat) and his buddy Clank (a walking/talking robot) as they visit many different planets and try to stop the spread of a potentially dangerous collectible house pet. I know that this sounds really weird, but luckily, the focus of the game is on pure action rather than the intricate storyline. The action basically involves blasting absolutely everything in sight with some of the seriously heavy weaponry. To keep things interesting, there are tons of unique and fun weapons to use and what makes it even better is that the guns improve once you use them enough. This allows you to blast even more things and improve even more guns (you can see the cycle of fun here). What makes this super fun is the fact that there are tons of varied enemies that you encounter. I’ve never seen so many things on the screen at the same time before.

In addition to purely shooting things up as Ratchet the talking cat, there are some segments where you get to play as Clank. These usually involve solving some puzzle with clank and other small robots and this helps to keep the gameplay fresh and varied. This is a great game that I can easily recommend to anybody.
