Mercer Island Rotary Run

Date: 03/26/06
Distance: 13.1M run (Half Marathon)
Time: 1:52:55
Cost: $45.00

This was a nice run with tons of participants. I think there were close to 1300 people doing the half marathon and lots more doing the 8K walk and run. I did this half marathon course (this was my first one). The course started in downtown MI and snaked around downtown before heading around the island on East and West mercer way. The map is shown below in Figure 1.

Interestingly, there was only a single toilet at the second water station. Also, I put my race number on my race belt by pinning the center of the number to the belt. This didn't work well since the number actually folded in half and was impossible to read. Note to self: Next time, pin the top of the number to the belt. Alison, Amanda, and Dad did the 8K walk. Also, Jon decided to just run home along the race course at the last minute. It was pretty funny because everyone was in spandex and running gear and he was sprinting past everyone in his cargo pants and fleece. Overall, it was a fun race and I think I'd do it again next year.
