Platon, Timée, Critias: parle d'une civilisation avancée battue par Athènes 9 mille ans auparavant!

"For these histories tell of a mighty power which unprovoked made an expedition against the whole of Europe and Asia, and to which your city put an end. This power came forth out of the Atlantic Ocean, for in those days the Atlantic was navigable; and there was an island situated in front of the straits which are by you called the Pillars of Heracles; the island was larger than Libya and Asia put together, and was the way to other islands, and from these you might pass to the whole of the opposite continent which surrounded the true ocean; for this sea which is within the Straits of Heracles is only a harbour, having a narrow entrance, but that other is a real sea, and the surrounding land may be most truly called a boundless continent."

Légende: fondée par Poseidon (dieu de la mer) et une mortelle, Cléito. Atlas, un de ses 5 fils, devint le premier roi d’Atlantis. Le centre d’Atlantis était occupé par une gigantesque colline au sommet de laquelle un immense temple à la gloire de Poséidon était érigé. Immense, riche, prospere, avancée, juste.
Mais la corruption arrive – orgeuil, avidité – attire la colère des dieux, en forme d’un cataclysme qui fit sombrer en peu de temps l’Atlantide et ses habitants au plus profond des mers.

Quelques Atlantophiles:

1912 – la fraude de Schliemman, qui prétendait posséder de très anciens manuscrits etc.

1924, Lewis Spence- les Cro-Magnons auraient été des Atlantes déplacés.

Edgar Cayce, médium des années 30: prétend avoir vu l'Atlantis en trance. Les Atlantes connaissaient la fission nucléaire, possédaient des aéronefs et des sous-marins. Selon Cayce, les Atlantes se seraient détruits par leurs sources d'energie.

J. V. Luce, 1969 – Atlantis serait Théra – l'histoire de Platon est un vestige de cette catastrophe.
