The Behavioral Research and Therapy Clinics (BRTC) is a
clinical research and training center focusing   primarily on
the development and evaluation of psychotherapies
for individuals with severe and chronic personality disorders.
Research focuses on the understanding, assessment and
treatment of suicidal behaviors and of Borderline Personality
Disorder. Most research has been funded by the National
Institutes of Health. The primary treatment under development is
Dialectical Behavior Therapy, a cognitive behavioral treatment
developed by Dr. Linehan. We are a free standing unit at the
University of Washington. All of our funding to date has been
via research grants and the clinical income generated by
Dr. Linehan and other staff members.

We need of financial and volunteer support
from the community to:
  1.  Develop and maintain a clinic infrastructure;

  2.  Develop and put in place a method of fund raising;

  3.  Further develop and maintain our web site;

  4.  Develop computerized procedures to provide   more efficient and effective services to our clients.

What we need most right now:

-Air conditioning for our computer server room
-Soundproofing of four therapy rooms
-A web master to aid dissemination of treatments
-Administrative staff to organize our extensive library
  of psychotherapy video tapes, copy them to DVD to
  to preserve them and code them so that they can be
  used in training other therapists
-Volunteers to take phone calls from people seeking

    referrals, information, and resources
- And, of course, we can always use $$MONEY$$
