Itzue joined the lab in 2013. She earned her undergraduate and masters degrees at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. For her undergraduate thesis, she worked with Dr. Oscar Flores Villela on a herpetological survey of the “Pluma Hidalgo” region of Oaxaca. Her master thesis work with Dr. Adrian Nieto Montes de Oca focused on the molecular phylogeny and morphology of the Plectrohyla bisticta group (Anura: Hylidae).
Itzue’s dissertation research is focused on the systematic and evolution of the hylid frogs of Middle America.
