Matt’s dispatch from the field:
Despite hurricane Irene and other tropical storms, my recent collecting trip to Puerto Rico to collect Anolis lizards was a great success. Puerto Rico is a wonderful place to work – with friendly boriquas, amazing roast pig called lechon, and wonderfully distinct geographic regions. Highlights include finding Anolis cuvieri and A. occultus and swimming in Rio Piedras Escritos with Prof. Sandra Moya’s undergrad class. Please disregard any impressions you may have made about anoles from museum collections – no little brown lizards here!
