My research focuses on the ways in which race, gender, neoliberalism, and geography influence poverty processes in the United States. As a geographer, I am interested in local patterns in the experience of receiving public assistance. As a doctoral candidate, I am inspired by critical poverty studies that challenge the poverty logic of late capitalism and highlight the role of race and gender in economic restructuring. My two research sites, Kansas City and Seattle, reflect my dedication to effect change in the places I have called home.
