Not very significant from an artistic point of view, the Fonte del Casato is probably the most peculiar of the fountains in Siena because it is built in a central zone of the city but is hidden between houses and palaces, at the foot of a long staircase. Built at the request of inhabitants of the quarter, it has always remained hidden, so much so that a Florentine observer during the siege of 1555 didn't even note it in his list of Sienese fountains.
