  • Ausschreibung für Studenten ["Strukturwandel an der Ruhr im Internationalen Vergleich"] Der Initiativkreis Ruhrgebiet, ein Zusammenschluß führender Wirtschaftsunternehmen mit dem Ziel, den Strukturwandel im Ruhrgebiet mit positiven Impulsen zu unterstützen, führt im Rahmen seines Themenschwerpunktes "Jugend-Technik-Zukunft" in den Jahren 1998/99 in Zusammenarbeit mit den Ruhrgebietsuniversitäten das Projekt "Strukturwandel an der Ruhr im Internationalen Vergleich" durch.

    Junge Menschen aus dem Ruhrgebiet forschen als Stipendiaten/Innen des Initiativkreises für die Zukunft ihrer Region.

  • Studierende der Ruhrgebiets-Universitäten forschen weltweit nach Impulsen für den Wandel im Revier. Der Initiativkreis Ruhrgebiet finanziert mit zwei Millionen Mark das Projekt mit dem Titel "Was machen andere Regionen besser, und was kann das Ruhrgebiet daraus lernen". Dieser Frage sollen die Stipendiaten während mehrmonatiger Forschungsaufenthalte in den USA und verschiedenen europäischen Ländern nachgehen. Die Ergebnisse sollen praktisch im Ruhrgebiet umgesetzt werden können.

  • Die Bedeutung von Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien für das Innovationsklima (Fern-Universität Hagen) Das Projekt Strukturwandel im Ruhrgebiet im internationalen Vergleich möchte Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten des Ruhrgebiets auf den Gebieten Wirtschaftsförderung, qualifizierte Dienstleistungen, Regionalmarketing, Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologie, Qualifizierung und Ausbildung aufzeigen. In Zusammenarbeit mit den Ruhrgebietsuniversitäten werden 31 Studenten und Doktoranden gefördert, um durch den Vergleich mit anderen Regionen Handlungsempfehlungen zu entwickeln.
