Hoesch Stahl AG, Dortmund was a public limited company with a
share capital of DM 210 million. All of its shares were owned by
Hoesch AG which had a consolidated
turnover of DM 10 679 million in 1989. In 1992 it merged with
Krupp to form Krupp-Hoesch AG.

Decisions under Article 66 of the ECSC Treaty: Sidmar/Hoogovens
Adopted on 19 September. The decision authorizes a
joint venture between Sidmar NV and Hoogovens Staal BV.
This joint venture, known as Galtec, will build and operate a production
line for hot-dip galvanized sheet for applications in the
white goods and construction sectors. Capacity will be 400 000 tonnes per
annum.

On December 4 and 8, 1992, Fried. Krupp AG Hoesch-Krupp is entered in the
Commercial Registers of Dortmund and Essen local courts.
On January 6, 1993, the new Fried. Krupp AG Hoesch-Krupp share is admitted
for
trading on all German stock exchanges and the stock exchanges in Zurich,
Basle and
Geneva.

How Neural Networks are
Proving Themselves in
Rolling Mill Process

In 1993, as a pilot project, Siemens
successfully applied neural networks for
strip temperature and rolling force at the
hot strip mill of Hoesch, Dortmund. Since
then, Siemens has been able to gather wide
experience, exploiting the advantages of
neural networks can for process
automation in over 40 rolling mills
worldwide (Fig. 7). In hot strip rolling
force modeling, neural networks can
increase the prediction accuracy by up to
30 %, as described above.
