Voluntary assessment will begin year on the 2003. Mandatory will begin in year 2006. This time is for all three benchmarks. In all probability , pilot testing will begin in years 2001 and 2002. Social studies will be included in the Certificate of Mastery. This must be considered a positive step for social studies. To be included means resources, including funding for staff development, will eventually flow to social studies.
