The purpose of this assignment is to gain a very basic understanding of the employment composition of a regional economy and some of the inter-sectoral shifts in such a composition over time.
Use the table "Nonagricultural Wage and Salary Workers Employed in the SEATTLE-BELLEVUE-EVERETT PMSA KING, ISLAND and SNOHOMISH COUNTIES" published by the Washington State Employment Security Department and identify
(1) sectors and industries which, during the year 1999 grew (or declined), in absolute terms, by more than the average number of new employees per sector or per industry.
(2) sectors/ industries which, during the same time period, grew (or declined), in relative terms, more or less than the Seattle PMSA as a whole.
Please be explicit as to how you calculated your results. Briefly interpret or suggest some explanation(s) for one or two of the changes which you might be particularly interested in or which have affected you personally.
