This chromatograph has been used for analyses for volatile and semi-volatile species such synthetic musks, disinfection by-products, aldehydes and carboxylic acids. Its capabilities supplement those of our ABI 4000 QTrap HPLC/MS system.

Shimadzu GC2010 ECD/FID and PerkinElmer AutoSystem chromatographs

These units include two new Shimadzu chromatographs (one with an electron capture detector, ECD and another one with a flame ionization detector, FID) and three much older AutoSystem units with similar detectors. These gas chromatographic units have been used for a variety of analyses, for instance for determinations of concentrations of halogenated disinfection by-products and solvents, aliphatic acids, aldehydes and others. Analyses for halogenated aliphatic acids and aldehydes require sample derivatization, which is fairly routine procedure.
