In writing about dance we are challenged to translate our observations and impressions into language. In all your writing it may help you to think, that you are addressing somebody, who has not heard the lecture, participated or witnessed the dance.
Writing Tasks
In this course you will be asked to submit writing tasks on a regular basis. The eight writing tasks vary. Some will be part of creative processes, others reflections of the lectures or accounts of the movement classes.
The writing tasks break down the course processes and give you the opportunity to explicitly reflect on the nature of diversity, access and inclusion in Integrated Dance.
General Writing Guidelines
Formal Criteria
- Word document and submitted via Collect It.
- Save document with your name (e.g. KochWT1.doc)
- Covers required length
- Font, Times New Roman, size 12
- 1.5 spacing
- Standard margins, no bigger than 1.25 inches
- Appropriate spelling and presentation, please run the spell check and make sure your writing and presentation does not hamper the understanding of your text.
You may find it helpful to create a template consistent with the formal criteria. If writing proves to be challenging, I recommend the Odegaard Writing Center for support.
Grading criteria
The writing tasks are low stakes events with the main focus on process. All writing tasks (including the webq) combined count 10% towards the overall grade. While individual tasks weigh little, continued strong contributions will matter not only for the final grade but also preparing for creative work and processing of material.
