This course in contemporary and community dance practice challenges all participants to explore and develop their individual abilities within dance. The course is limited to 20 participants. Registered participants will attend the daily open level technique class suitable for beginners and dancers with advanced training alike. A smaller group of interested and advanced dancers will be selected for the composition/repertory class. Please indicate your interest on your registration form. Guest artists from the field of Integrated Dance will be invited to present lecture demonstrations - an opportunity to discuss and exchange experiences. An informal showing of the material practiced in the technique class and created during the repertory class concludes the week. Jürg Koch has been teaching classes in Integrated Dance at the UW Seattle since 2004. His teaching is based on his experience as a performer, teacher and choreographer for CandoCo Dance Company in England, as well as his ongoing creative and educational practice of community dance and mixed ability work. CandoCo founded in 1991 is a leading contemporary dance company of dancers with and without disabilities. Please note, this is an independent course hosted by the Dance Program at the University of Washington. You do not need to be a registered student with the University to take part. Registration forms can be downloaded from this website or requested by contacting Jürg Koch via: kochj@u.washington.edu or 206 616 7561 participant comments: "It was valuable to be pushed individually to move in new and different ways...to be pushed outside a comfort zone." "The class was very challenging and it forced me to try new and scary things and I loved it!"
