Some irregularities due to (u,v) and w being on staggered grids:

• v is on its original grid.
• u was interpolated to the w grid, so (u,w) could be plotted as vectors.
  The resulting vectors exist only where both w and interpolated u exist. Since w is on the property grid, it has values closer to the coast than the (u,v) grid; those values are omitted here.
