Model runs to examine the effect of a 7° rotation of the winds
The Gent and Cane OGCM was used to examine the effect of a wind rotation. The control run was made with the FSU seasonal cycle (1961-90) (the model is also forced with ISCCP seasonal clouds). The rotated-winds run was made with all winds rotated 7° clockwise, but with the same magnitude as the observed winds.
All the figures below are in the same format, showing the field from the control run on top, and the difference: (rotated wind run) minus (control run) on the bottom. Only the mean (over model year 11) is shown.
- Wind components: Zonal Meridional
- Curl
- SST
- Sea level
- Surface currents: Zonal Meridional
- Equatorial currents: Zonal Meridional
