120-day variability

120-day variability

Work inspired by Sophie Cravatte's discovery of 120-day variability in west Pacific zonal winds and corresponding Kelvin and Rossby waves.
  1. 110 and 55-day zonal wind amplitude extracted by complex demodulation (Quick-look TAO section files)
  2. A couple of examples illustrating the above:
    1. 1990-93: Line plots with CdMod   Contours of wind across the basin
    2. 1996-99: Line plots with CdMod   Contours of wind across the basin
  3. Indo-Pacific OLR amplitude (55 and 110 days)
  4. Comparing OLR and zonal wind at 165°E: 55-days   110-days
  5. Comparing 55 and 110-day amplitude at 165°E (and the SOI): TAO winds   OLR
  6. Compare mean amplitude: OLR   ERS zonal wind
