Assignments

  1. Q. My document is too big to upload via eSubmit. What do I do?

    A. If the eSubmit tool says that your document is too large, you should use a compression utility to "shrink" the file. Common tools are Stuffit (Mac, Win) and WinZip (Win). I prefer Stuffit because it has a drag-and-drop interface.
  2. Q. How do I create a PDF file?

    A. You need to have a PDF "writer" to create Acrobat files. The writer is integrated into Apple's OSX software. It is a separate program from Adobe for Windows machines.
  3. Q. How should I format my paper, footnotes, bibliography (fill in the blank)?

    A. Please review the policy stated in the course syllabus or referenced on the course class assignments page(s). As a general statement, I do not specify which scholarly citation format you use; I do, however, ask that you provide a bibliography and footnotes or endnotes. Pick a style and be consistent!
  4. Q. I'm going to be late with an assignment. What do I do?

    A. Please review the policy stated in the course syllabus.

Tools

  1. Q. How do I send an e-mail to the class listserv?

    A. Each class has a mailing list administered by the University using Listproc software. A message sent "to the list" is distributed to all registered class members at their UW e-mail address. Messages sent to the list must originate from your UW e-mail address. The list is set up to "reply to list," so if you want to send a note to the person who sent a message (usually me), you must substitute their address for the list address in the "to" line after selecting "reply."
  2. Q. How do I use ...?

    A. There are help documents for each of the Catalyst tools. Here are the links:
