Geography 493
What do recent UW graduates value from their college
experiences?
UW's Office of
Educational Assessment (OEA) surveys past UW graduates regarding their
appraisal of the knowledge and skills gained at university, as well as
their career and life outcomes. Take a look at the overall list
of OEA reports to see the range of assessments that office undertakes.
For this assignment, however, please focus on two surveys:
the 2004 survey of graduates after one year, and
the 2002 survey of graduates after five and ten years.
As you review these introductions and results, ask
yourself (and be ready to discuss):
-
How was each survey administered? What were the response
rates?
-
What knowledge and skills are most highly valued by graduates
with one year post-baccalaureate experience? How does this compare
to the ways in which five- and ten-year alumni value what they got out
of college?
-
Do any of the questions raise issues or learning goals you
hadn't thought about?
-
What aspects of your learning do you value?
-
How do recent Geography graduates value the knowledge and
skills they gained?
-
What are your current reactions, compared to recent
Geography graduates?
