Redoing milestones for subsequent handin/regrade

Version: 30 August 2001

You can resubmit up to one milestone for one regrade, due at the subsequent milestone handin (this means that the final hand-in cannot be resubmitted). I will regrade your milestone based on the extent to which you have incorporated my suggestions or have argued for why these suggestions have NOT been taken (but the latter is risky, and it is best to discuss this approach with me in advance).

Your final grade on the milestone for which you are requesting a regrade will be ( 1/2 * original_score ) + ( 1/2 * new_score ). You should not feel under any obligation to request a regrade as outlined in this document.

When handing in your subsequent milestone along with the regraded milestone, you are required to make some changes to the index.html file as follows.

  1. add a note indicating that you are requesting a regrade to milestone X, where X is the previous milestone (mention it by name);
  2. add a hyperlink, appropriately labeled, to the original version of the milestone for which you are requesting a regrade;
  3. add a hyperlink, appropriately labeled, to the new version of the milestone for which you are requesting a regrade;
  4. add a hyperlink, appropriately labeled, to an annotated version of the comments that I sent you for the milestone for which you are reqeusting a regrade. For every suggestion that I make, include either a detailed rationale for why it has not been addressed, or a brief description as to how this was addressed, along with a complete set of hyperlinks to every place in your new milestone in which a change was made to satisfy my suggestion. In this document, it is crucial to dinstinguish my comments from your annotations. To sumarize, it is important to provide commentary for every suggestion that I made, whether or not it was adopted. Finally, this annotation file should have your group's opinion of what its new grade on the milestone should be, along with a rationale (i.e., your reasons why).
  5. Make sure that the changelog for the new version of the milestone for which you are requesting a regrade summarizes each of the changes that you made. Note that this changelog should have been maintained as you proceeded, and should have served as the basis for the annotations that you made to my comment file.
