Overall there was some very fine work. Many of your summaries are
clear, logically coherent, and well represent the authors' work. Your
reactions in general are thoughtful.
- Vagueness
- "He discusses and outlines some of the problems that we are likely
to face."
- Thematic, not sequential
- "Touretzky begins the article by explaining the background."
- Don't assume your reader has also read the article
- At start of summary: "The article focuses on the use of copyright
laws to impede free speech rights of computer programmers. During the
lawsuit ..."
- 1/2 page "Reaction" section (10pt, single spacing, one inch
margins).
- 2 full paragraphs for each summary.
- Take care with grammar
- "This three situations, invisible abuse, invisible programming
values, and invisible complex calculation, where something is done
unknown to the user or programmer."
- Relate the papers to one another and to the the previous papers in
the course.
