INTRODUCTION
Purpose
The H J Heinz Company
Foundation
and the Heinz Institute of Nutritional Sciences (HINS) have been the
primary sponsors of the Northwest Regional Symposium on Prenatal, Infant,
Child, and Adolescent Nutrition held at the University of Washington in recent
years. The Symposia focused on nutritional support for reproduction as well
as growth and health of infants, children and adolescents. Information published
on this Web page was designed to meet Symposium Objectives via the Internet,
saving time and money for the participants. In this format highly specialized
information can be made available for large numbers of interested people
with prior knowledge of topics. The following summary of treatment
issues specific for adolescents, was inspired by topics discussed at previous
Symposia.
