Dr. Jill Purdy is an Associate Professor of Management at the Milgard School of Business at the University of Washington Tacoma. She serves as Academic Director of the Center for Leadership and Social Responsibility. She earned her doctorate from Pennsylvania State University and served on the faculty of Bucknell University prior to coming to UWT in 1994. Dr. Purdy's scholarly interests include organization theory, negotiation and conflict resolution, and higher education. Her research appears in such journals as Academy of Management Journal, International Journal of Conflict Management, Public Administration Quarterly, Academy of Management Learning and Education, Journal of Higher Education and Journal of Management Education. She serves on the editorial boards of Negotiation and Conflict Management Research and Bifröst Journal of Social Science. She also works as a consultant to business, government and nonprofits to facilitate strategic planning and organizational change. Jill teaches courses in negotiation, organizational management, nonprofit governance, and integrated systems. In 1997, 2002, 2007, and 2009, she was nominated for the UW Tacoma Distinguished Teaching Award. While at Penn State, she won the McKenzie Award for Best Doctoral Student Teacher. In 2005, Dr. Purdy was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study and teach in Iceland, where she served on the faculty of Bifröst University (Háskólinn á Bifröst). She has served as a visiting faculty member at the Helsinki School of Economics, now Aalto University. Jill is the faculty advisor for the Milgard
School of Business chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma,
the business honor society. |
