The accompanying jdfSummary.mat file comprises the data described in the manuscript "Wave Breaking Dissipation in a Fetch-Limited Sea" by Michael Schwendeman, Jim Thomson, and Johannes Gemmrich. This data was taken from the Strait of Juan de Fuca, WA on February 14-15. Wind and wave data have been separated into data structures for February 14 and 15 (four structs). Also included are the Λ(c) breaking distributions and coincident wind/wave values (one struct). Structures and variables are described below:

jdfWindFeb14, jdfWindFeb15 - wind data taken from the sonic anemometer mounted above the wheelhouse of R/V Robertson.
fetch - Uniform 500m grid measured from the ship GPS lat/long along the mean daily wind direction from coastline estimated by piecewise linear functions (Fig. 1, Schwendeman et al.). Remaining variables have all been averaged over these 500m fetch bins.
time - Time in UTC in Matlab serial date format.
lat - Latitude from ship GPS.
lon - Longitude from ship GPS.
u10 - 10-meter mean wind speed (in m/s).
uStar - Wind u* calculated from the inertial dissipation method (see Yelland et al. 1994), in m/s.
windDir - Daily average wind direction relative relative to true north (in degrees).

jdfSwiftFeb14, jdfSwiftFeb15 - wave and dissipation data averaged from two SWIFT drifters.
fetch - Uniform 500m grid measured from the SWIFT GPS lat/long along the mean daily wind direction from coastline estimated by piecewise linear functions (Fig. 1, Schwendeman et al.). Remaining variables have all been averaged over these 500m fetch bins.
