Yang, Jen and Li Participate in Materials Genome Initiative

According to the White House Office of Science & Technology, The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Department of Energy (DOE) last month announced more than $25 million of funding for innovative materials-science research projects. Included in the MGI initiative is an NSF-sponsored grant to MSE Profs. Jihui Yang, Alex Jen and Jiangyu Li to develop high efficiency thermoelectric composites. More

 

Jihui Yang Named 2012 APS Fellow

Prof. Jihui Yang has been elected a fellow of the American Physical Society for pioneering studies of the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel thermoelectric materials, and for leadership in their use in devices and systems for waste heat recovery applications. The criterion for election is exceptional contributions to the physics enterprise; e.g., outstanding physics research, important applications of physics, leadership in or service to physics, or significant contributions to physics education. 2012 MRS Fall Meeting

 Prof. Yang Presented a Talk on Skutterudites in MRS Fall Meeting

Prof. Yang gave a talk titled Electron and Phonon Transport in n- and p-type Skutterudites in 2012 MRS Fall Meeting at Boston. He reviewed our recent theoretical and experimental effort on modifying the valence bands of p-type skutterudites and highlighted means of improving therir TE properties. Dr. Jiong Yang and Dr. Shanyu Wang also gave presentations. About the meeting

 

 

 

 

Prof. Yang Gave a Presentation in Orcas 2012

Prof. Yang's group took part in Orcas 2012, i.e. the International Conference on Energy Conversion & Storage at Friday Harbor on San Juan Island in September 4-6. Prof. Yang gave a presentation on Advanced Materials for Future Vehicular Propulsion. Dr. Jiong Yang and Dr. Shanyu Wang had poster presentations as well. About the meeting
