Travel: Tips on Traveling in Nebraska

This sticker proudly displays one of the jewels in Nebraska's crown-- the capitol building.

Sometimes a capitol is just a capitol... But other times, it's closer to a cigar.

On an even less serious note, I strongly recommend that the next time you vacation in Nebraska you should seek out the small western town of Alliance. On its outskirts, you'll find Carhenge, perhaps the greatest work of honest-to-god(s) modern art. And best of all, it's free.

The highlight of our vacation to Nebraska in 1994 was seeing sandhill cranes land on the Platte River. May not sound like much, but we're talking about thousands of cranes. Darkening the sky like an eclipse. So loud it gets hard to hear each other talk. More pictures of cranes are here.
