Hello! My name is Justin Hsia. I'm an Associate Teaching Professor in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University of Washington (UW). My passions include teaching, ultimate, hiking, and board games.
I teach CSE 120 because I firmly believe that everyone needs to know a little bit about what computing is and how it affects them to make sense of our current society. Computing has become so ubiquitous that even if you don't directly deal with it, you absolutely need to interact with someone who does – and this applies to almost all fields and careers. More worryingly, computing affects our daily lives in ways that most of us don't even realize and has implications towards our privacy, access to information, and our social spheres.
