Classification Description Notes
Type 1 Lateral plateau pure cleavage fracture
Type 2 Lateral plateau cleavage combined with depression
Type 3 Lateral plateau pure central depression
Type 4 Medial plateau fractures, either split or depressed May include tibial spines
Type 5 Medial and lateral plateau fractures May include intercondylar eminence. Maintains continuity between central tibial plateau and metadiaphysis
Type 6 Comminuted fracture with dissociation from tibial metadiaphysis
