Karl Lapo

Graduate Student

Karl Lapo received his BA in Physics from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. As an undergraduate, Karl did glaciology research with the Center for Geophysical Studies of Ice and Climate developing methods to use ice-penetrating radar to infer the basal conditions of ice sheets and glaciers. He also conducted ecology research with the St. Olaf Biology department studying the impact of a changing snow pack on ecological systems using numerical models. He is interested in the feedbacks between a changing climate and the cryosphere and is working on using satellite imagery to better constrain the radiation balance in snow melt models. Karl enjoys spending his time in the mountains doing any number of activities and eagerly looks forward to studying his free time passion.
