Evergreen trees as radiation shields
In remote wilderness settings, thermistors are typically placed in naturally-aspirated Gill radiation shields. Dense stands of trees provide shading from solar radiation that is often superior to that of a Gill shield, with comparable temperatures to the more standard measurements.
