UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON

CERTIFICATE IN APPLIED ANIMAL BEHAVIOR

Satisfactory completion of the University of Washington's Certificate in Applied Animal Behavior Program is frequently noted by the use of the letters 'UW-AAB' after the name of the individual, or the use of the above copywritten logo.

This indicates that the individual has satisfied the requirements of the University of Washington's academic program: three University-level courses taught by PhD faculty with many years of experience in the field of applied animal behavior. These courses include in-depth education in modern ethology and animal behavior science; endocrinology, genetics, and neuroscience as it applies to behavior; canine, feline, and equine science; and enrichment, welfare, and training science as it applies to animals in the world around us.

The science and methods taught in this Program adhere to the Ethics Policy of the Animal Behavior Society and most other established certification programs, strongly discouraging the use of aversive training techniques which are well-established to frequently cause harm to an animal's mental well-being.
